Teltronix, a British company formed in 1994, supplies in-house designed datacommunications equipment for use in a wide range of applications.

However, our real passion is designing and manufacturing bespoke products that actually meet real needs and solve real communications problems.

Our reputation is sustained through analysing your problems and producing solutions that work for you. Our integrated approach to product design and manufacture allows us to react quickly to deliver high quality, innovative, cost-effective solutions to customers’ exact requirements.

  • In March 2000 First Engineering approached a Teltronix agent with a requirement for a converter to connect newly developed DTE equipment to various types of DCE equipment, including X.21 KiloStream™ and baseband modems on private twisted pair copper lines.

A worldwide search only turned up equipment which could have connected an X.21 DCE to a 64Kbps contradirectional G703 as the DCE, rather than the DTE, - this was close, but unsuitable.

By April 2000 Teltronix delivered a prototype, production quantities were shipped in July 2000 and the service went live in 2000.
First Engineering also successfully trialled the Teltronix standard X.21 baseband modem (branded by the agent), so we were able to offer a complete solution using a mix of standard and bespoke products for the private circuit connections.

  • Due to a supplier problem Racal Network Services needed a multiplexer at the last minute as part of the bid for the National Lottery.

Teltronix provided a custom designed production product with BABT approval in less than 12 weeks, then overcame the logistics problems associated with manufacturing in very large numbers, which meant that the National Lottery met its launch date live on the BBC in front of millions of viewers.

  • Caminhos de Ferro Portugueses (Portuguese Railways)
recently needed converters from X.21 DTE and DCE equipment to 64Kbps contradirectional DCE and DTE equipment.
Since Teltronix had already developed the X.21 DCE product for First Engineering it was relatively straightforward to produce the matching X.21 DTE equipment to complete the links. This equipment is on trial currently and will be fully deployed before the end of this year.

  • The German Railway (DB) needed a replacement for a specialised modem made obsolete by the manufacturer.

Teltronix designed a product to match their future needs exactly, enabling the continued expansion and modernisation of their network, cutting their inventory in half and cutting their installation costs by a factor of 6. We won the order, beating major multinational companies who were only prepared to offer off-the-shelf, proprietary product on long lead times which would have severely impacted the project.

DB were so pleased with the new product and the associated new racking system that they commissioned a series of 8 new designs giving communications functionality from 300bps to 2Mbps.
